NOTE:After Lydia's death, Melvin married Laura Manthe Abraham, widow of his wife's brother, Herbert Abraham.
MELVIN ROLSTAD - Bokeelia, FL, Melvin Rolstad, 80, Brainerd, formerly of Mankato, died this last weekend at Bokeelia, FL where be spent his winters. Services are pending at Johnson Bowman Mortuary. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Johnson-Boman Chapel for Melvin Rolstad, 72, a former Mankato barber who invented the electric lather machine for barbershop use. He died Sunday at Bokeelia, Fla., where he had been spending winters since 1959. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3to5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Johnson-Boman mortuary and until the time of the services Thursday. Mr. Rolstad was born September 30, 1896 at Garvin. He lived in Mankato for a number of years until 1959, when he moved to Brainerd, where he was owner of the Electric Lather Machine Mfg Co. until retiring in l960. He had invented the machine in the late 1930's. He is survived by his second wife, Laura; three step-sons, Arlo, Oren and Lynn Abraham, brothers: Alfred of Montevideo, Marvin of Littleton Colo., Oscar, of Minneapolis and Joseph of Mankato; two sisters, Marie Pherson of Santa Anna Calif, and Agnes Holden of Minneapolis, five grandchildren and severa1 nieces and nephews. His first wife, Lydia Abraham died in 1962.
He was a member of the Church of the Cross Lutheran Church in Brainerd and the Fisher of Men Lutheran Church at Pine Island, Fla.
He was a Navy veteran of WW I.
Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery.
