NOTE:Joshua enlisted at the beginning of the Civil War at age 13 and served to the end as a drummer. He reenlisted at the close of the war and was stationed 1st at Sacketts Harbor, NY and later at Columbus, OH where he lived after his retirement. He served in Co D, 103rd Division Regt P. V. I. for three years. The first time he tried to enlist, his mother brought him home. That night he crept out a window and made his way again to a place he could enlist. He was captured and sent to Andersonville Prison. He weighed 180 pounds when he went in and 80 pounds when he got out. This is the only war story he was willing to speak of. He spent 2 years in the Invalid Corps as a result.
